Team tryouts are available by appointment only.

Evaluations will be made by one of our qualified team coaches.  Athletes who have been evaluated, may be asked to attend a level appropriate practice on a trial basis.

Little Giants & level 4:  Athletes must show good body awareness, strength and the potential to quickly grasp the fundamentals of gymnastics.  At this level we are not looking as much at skills but rather potential.

Level 5-8:  Athletes at these levels need to demonstrate a good grasp of the skills appropriate for their level.  Every gym has certain skills they feel important at each level.  At SGA we have a set of core skills that we feel are important if you are going to advance beyond the compulsory levels.  It is these skills and/or the ability to learn these skills that we feel is important at this level.

Level 9 & UP:  At the optional levels there are number of directions in which a gym may choose to go.   Coach Sharp has a long history of developing National athletes (9-Elite) from scratch.  We have level 9, 10 and Elite gymnasts on our team who started with Coach Sharp as preschoolers.  At the National levels we usually have a potential team member join us for a practice (or a week of practices), during which time we will observer her skill level and potential.  Afterwards we will meet (coach, parent, athlete) and discuss her options.

Our Focus:  Safety, strength, proper development / progression & FUN!

  • Our workout facility is equipped with all the latest safety equipment and matting. (FACILITY)
  • Our team coaches are USAG safety certified and trained in the SGA system.
  • We focus on strength as the basis for all skills.  You have to be strong to do gymnastics & our athletes are strong.
  • If you like drills you will like SGA.  You must have good basics and proper SHAPES.
  • Coach Sharp designed the SHAPES program years ago.  This is the program that shaped and developed International USA Team Member Bridget Sloan, not the TOPS program.
  • We choose our skills and progressions wisely.  We want our athletes training for the future as well as the present.  The skills and habits you learn today will determine what you are capable of learning tomorrow.
  • Training, competing, traveling, flipping, meeting new friends, and seeing new places is FUN!

LEVELS & WORKOUT DAYS / TIMES:

  • Little Giants  (Monday & Wednesday:  4:00 - 5:30 PM)
  • Level 4  (Monday, Friday: 4:30 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday: 5:00 - 8:00 PM)
  • Level 5  (Monday, Friday: 4:30 - 8:00 PM, Wednesday: 5:00 - 8:00 PM)
  • Level 7/8  (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 4:30 - 8:30 PM, Saturday: 10:00 - 1:30 PM)
  • Level 9/10 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 4:30 - 8:30 PM, Wednesday: 5:00 - 8:00 PM, Saturday: 9:00  - 1:30 PM)
  • Elite  (Elite is a special level requiring its own unique schedule)  Anyone interested in information on the Elite program or the Developmental Elite program should contact Mr. Sharp directly in order to set up an appointment.
